UPDATE ON Slovita PrOject

The link between Sella Nevea and Bovec

The ropeway SLOVITA will link Sella Nevea with Bovec, the Slovenian ski resort on the south side of mount Canin. The linkage will pass through Sella Prevala, where an already existent chairlift takes people to the Bovec resort slopes.
The total ski runs of the combined resorts will be around 35Km, creating great possibilities for freeriding, already doable at excellent levels in both Sella and Bovec. The linkage will be the first one to connect Slovenia and Italy through a ropeway.

01/08/08 LET'S GO! AVANTI! ADELANTE! The building permission has been granted today so the works for the cable way can start again next week. Although it is not very realistic to think the cable way will be completed within December 2008, with December 2009 being a much reasonable bet, we keep our finger crossed and ask you to stay tuned with this page for updates.

Update 14/07/2008. on the 21/07 the regional Friuli Venezia Giulia government should give the final validation to the Slovita project. So, the works for the project should start again by the end of July. Fingers crossed!

Update 13/07/2008: An article on the Messaggero Veneto newspaper is saying that a solution for the link Sella Nevea - Bovec will be reached in 2 weeks time. This implies that the works for the cable way should start again before the end of July. The works, continues the article, have been hold by some environmental problems. For whoever knows Italian, this is the article.

Update 05/07/2008: behind the scenes, the president of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, Tondo, confirms that the link between Bovec and Sella Nevea will be done. We trust you, dude, but hurry up, time is flying...

Update 04/07/2008: the preparatory works have been terminated but still no sign of the required permission to start the building of the starting and arrival stations. Of course, the Friuli Venezia Giulia region doesn't realize that these delays are badly impacting both Sella and Bovec. But, what do they care those politicians?

Update 15/06/2008: the works are at the stand still. A permission that should come from the Friuli Venezia Giulia region is missing. They wait, we wait.in frustration.

Update 25/05/2008: works have not starter yet because of a missing authorization to build the road that runs from Prevala to the arrival of the Slovita cable way. Also, an authorization to start the building of the striating and arrival is missing. In Slovenia they gave the green light in 10 minutes. This is Italy my friends.

Update 10/05/2008: the road from Sella Nevea to the Gilberti lodge has been completed.
